High-tail it to San Francisco's High Tail Hotel
Just when you think nothing new can be done in the realm of pet day care, High Tail Hotel comes along and changes the entire game. The High Tail Hotel is an officially recognized Green business, and it's green in more ways than one! The idea behind the hotel is that it's the best of the outdoors, except it's indoors where dogs can play in a safe environment that makes them feel comfortable and mimics the experiences they get when they go outside.
Dog owners will be pleased to know that there are no cages at the High Tail, and the emphasis is truly on letting dogs play and roam around.

Walk the Dog and Welcome the Wildflowers in the San Francisco Bay Area
It’s still officially winter according to the calendar but our Bay Area parks, greenways and hillsides don’t seem to know that. They’re already stepping into spring. Just about any outdoor area that isn’t paved is awash in lush verdant green. Fields, hillsides, freeway embankments, and coastal bluffs have begun their annual show of wildflowers in yellows, oranges, blues, purples, pinks and whites.
Handmade Dog and Cat Beds at Petooie
It's always nice to see independent merchants making quality handmade items for pets. Etsy is a great source of handmade items period. We saw these great cave beds, which gives smaller dogs and cats a nice, safe place to relax and nap in. This "safe haven" is perfect for places which have lots of stimulation and noise.
SMILE
Red Necks. Its Monday and we could all use a good laugh. Love this photo of these Hungarian Vizslas. Hope you are having a great week!
Help Create Pacifica's First Off-Leash Dog Park in the San Francisco Bay Area
It may surprise Bay Area dog lovers to learn that currently there are no off-leash dog parks or beaches in lovely Pacifica.
Oceanfront Pacifica has a relatively small population of 40,000 humans but welcomes many tourists and surfers year-round, and is home to lots of dogs. Pacifica Organization of Canine Helpers or “POOCH,” a non-profit organization of Pacifica dog lovers, aims to improve the community and quality of life for dogs by promoting the establishment and maintenance of at least one enclosed off-leash dog park where dogs and their guardians can play and socialize safely.

Straybar: Pet-friendly Bar in Bernal Heights San Francisco
If you happen to frequent Bernal Heights, it's useful to know which places will welcome you with your dog. I always expect that there will be a few shops or maybe a restaurant willing to let me in with the dog on a leash, but I was really pleased to find that there's actually a pet-friendly bar there, too. But Straybar is not only pet-friendly - they've expanded that idea to create an entire experienced based on the idea that dogs are more than welcome.

Paco Collars - Stylin' Gear For Dogs, Cats & People
Last week I stopped to admire a snazzy leather collar sported by a pit bull mix in my neighborhood. Adorned with round metal studs, the rich brown collar had attitude. The collar gave the pooch a hip edgy sophisticated flare – perfect for the urban dog, and as it turns out, the urban cat too.
Adolescent Dog Training with Dr. Ian Dunbar Seminar in San Francisco
Famed dog behavior expert Dr. Ian Dunbar is hosting a seminar in San Francisco in March, and it promises to be a real problem-solver for those who have been surprised by the behavior changes in their newly-adolescent dogs. A lot of people don't realize when they get a puppy that they go through a similar stage that human teenagers do - rebelliousness, raging hormones, and general mayhem.
