EmBARKadero Social Club: SF's Newest Dog and Cat Play Center
When artist, animal lover, and activist Nora Murphy made the decision to start looking for ways to expand her Los Angeles dog-walking business, she had no idea just how far that dream would take her. Nora, who ran Angels Walk dog-walking service in Hollywood Hills, saw the answer to her expansion plans when she came across what was then Reigning Dogs & Cats in San Francisco. After purchasing the 3500-square-foot facility, she set about to transform it into what will soon re-open as the Embarkadero Social Club.
Nora wanted to create a wonderful space where dogs could have room to roam, play, and exercise within the safety of a controlled area. Embarkadero Social Club certainly has all that room and more - there are over 2000 square feet of indoor play areas and boarding facilities, and an additional 1000 square feet of outdoor recreation areas. Large dogs and small dogs have separate play areas so that no one gets hurt. For overnight stays, dogs are free to sleep in one of 10 large kennels, or if you prefer, your dog can sleep on a sofa or dog bed instead. In addition to the dog facilities, Embarkadero Social Club also has a large cat boarding room, where your kitty can enjoy a home away from home in luxurious surroundings.
Nora fully supports the movement away from puppy mills, and to reward those who help give homes to shelter dogs, Embarkadero offers 10% off on daycare for all dogs that are adopted from shelters or rescue charities. The EmBARKadero Social Club's grand opening will be on June 12th, in conjunction with the Muttville Senior Dog Rescue fundraiser. It's definitely worth checking out!
